Tampa Theatre’s Summer Sing-Along Screenings have been one of the better free-ish family options this summer, and this weekend they’re bringing 2023’s The Little Mermaid to Sparkman Wharf on Sunday, July 26, starting at 6:00 PM. It’s exactly what it sounds like: an outdoor screening with on-screen lyrics so the whole crowd can sing along, not just the kids who already have every song memorized.
The first 100 guests get a free LED fan — genuinely useful for a late-July evening outdoors — plus a free bag of Tampa Theatre’s well-known popcorn. Sparkman Wharf itself is worth building an evening around regardless: there’s a rotating lineup of food stalls and the open lawn right on the water, so you can grab dinner beforehand and just walk over to grab a spot on the grass.
Bring a blanket or low chairs, get there with some cushion before 6 PM if you want a good spot on the lawn, and expect it to skew family-heavy early with the crowd mellowing out as the sun goes down.
