Tampa’s biggest LEGO gathering rolls into the Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Hall on August 8-9, and it’s built for anyone who’s ever lost an afternoon to a bin of bricks. Billed by Visit Tampa Bay as “Tampa’s Largest LEGO Convention,” Brick Fan Event Tampa fills the hall with two full days of builds, displays, and hands-on activities for kids and serious collectors alike.
The scale is the draw. Sprawling Brick City Displays turn tables into fan-built metropolises, and a working Moon Base sends a small monorail looping across its own miniature lunar landscape. Star Wars fans gravitate toward the Galactic Zone, where life-size brick lightsabers are out for anyone brave enough to pose with one. Anyone itching to build rather than just look can head to the interactive build zones — thousands of loose pieces are on hand to make “almost anything,” with finished creations displayed on a community art wall.
The event isn’t just for browsing. Guest speakers this year include Mark and Steven Erickson, winners of LEGO Masters Season 2, on hand for builder talks and Q&A. There are also race-ramp competitions and RC car races run entirely on brick-built off-road courses, plus a vendor floor stocked with new and used sets for anyone hunting down a specific piece or a discontinued figure.
Doors open both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission runs $16 per person; children age 2 and under get in free. The Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Hall sits at 4800 US-301, just north of downtown Tampa — an easy, air-conditioned escape from the August heat, with the whole event contained indoors.
