Jimmy Eat World is marking 25 years of Bleed American by playing the album front to back on tour, with Hot Mulligan and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers opening at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre.
The album sold 1.7 million copies and threw off “The Middle,” a top-5 Hot 100 hit that AllMusic credits with helping birth mainstream emo-pop as a genre. The twist: the band self-financed the record after Capitol Records dropped them first. A quarter century later, it is the album the label passed on that defined their career.
An outdoor amphitheater show — loud and crowded, nothing objectionable in the material, but a late night for very young kids.
Good to know: MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre, 4802 US Hwy 301 N, Tampa, FL 33610. Saturday, Nov. 14, 7pm. Tickets through Ticketmaster.
