Morsani Hall seats just under 2,700, and for three weeks starting Oct. 21 almost every one of those seats has a ticket sold against it. Hamilton is back at the Straz Center, this time for a 24-show run through Nov. 8 — the longest stretch the touring production has given Tampa since it first played here in 2019.
The show itself hasn’t changed: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop and R&B retelling of Alexander Hamilton’s life, told with a cast that plays the Founding Fathers as the immigrants and outsiders they mostly were. It’s not just a touring hit — it won 11 Tony Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a Grammy, and the New York Times’ Ben Brantley called it, simply, “that good.” Nearly a decade after it opened on Broadway, it’s still regularly ranked among the most significant American musicals of the century.
What’s different this time is the run length. Past Tampa engagements ran two to three weeks; this one stretches almost exactly three, with twenty-four performances including four-show weekends on Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 31-Nov. 1. It runs about two hours and 45 minutes with one intermission. Nothing in the content is inappropriate for kids, but it’s almost entirely sung-through and lyrically dense — better suited to older kids and up than to toddlers who’ll lose the thread fast.
Weeknight performances — Oct. 27, 28 and 29 specifically — carry the lowest ticket prices of the run, for anyone trying to see it without the weekend markup. Parking at the Straz means either the Poe Garage across Tyler Street or one of the surface lots nearby; neither is included in a ticket price, and both fill up fast once a Hamilton crowd starts arriving two hours before curtain for the will-call line.
Tickets run through the Straz Center box office and its authorized resale partners — strazcenter.org is the place to start, and it’s also where the full performance calendar and seating chart live.
