Update: The August 6, 2026 date has passed. Rock the Park is a free monthly concert series at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and continues on its regular schedule.
Fifteen-plus years running and Rock the Park still hasn’t charged admission once.
The free monthly concert series, a partnership between the Tampa Downtown Partnership and Brokenmold Entertainment, brings live music of rotating genres to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on the first Thursday of most months. This year’s lineup has ranged from an all-out Emo Night in February to The George and Indigo Lane in July, with the next date set for August 6 at 6:30 p.m. — bring a blanket, the park’s open lawn along the Riverwalk is built for exactly that.
For a city with no shortage of paid concert options, a genuinely free, recurring series with real bands (not just a local cover act on rotation) is worth building a monthly habit around — especially with the Riverwalk itself as the backdrop.
Good to know: Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa. Free, first Thursday of most months, 6:30 p.m.
